The purpose of the UNFSU is to contribute to the promotion of the objectives of the Charter of the United Nations, through consultation, negotiation, mediation and discourse with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, responsible officers in charge of administrative matters and other staff representative bodies. All internationally recruited staff members assigned to United Nations field missions under the administrative authority of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Department of Field Support, Department of Political Affairs, (DPKO/DFS/DPA) and those secretariat staff United Nations Field Staff Union recognized under a bilateral agreement of association consistent UNFSU Election with staff rules and regulations shall be considered members of the UNFSU for the duration of their assignment.
The Executive of the UNFSU shall comprise the President and Vice-Presidents, and shall be referred to hereafter as the “Executiveâ€. The Executive shall serve for a term of two (2) years, with a possibility of re-election for one additional term of two (2) years.
